Mishi’s Gift Guide 2021
Hume- Our modern world is loaded with harmful toxins and most are found in what we put on our skin everyday. Hume is a great natural alternative to conventional deodorant and moisturizer (body oil). I personally use both to help reduce my toxic load.
BOKA- Health starts in your mouth and conventional oral care products are full of harmful endocrine disrupting chemicals like fluoride, SLS, parabens, artificial flavors and dyes. I personally opt for a cleaner, more natural option like BOKA. Pick up the starter kit, which induces a tongue scraper, YOU NEED THIS! Did you know scraping your tongue regularly improves digestion and reduces harmful bacteria from getting into your gut?
Badger- I’m going to keep going with this theme of “how in the heck do we reduce our toxic load?” Something you may not know is added to conventional chapsticks are artificial fragrances. They smell nice, but aren’t so nice for your hormones. BADGER lip balm goes beyond “natural”, they’re organic and non-gmo. I LOVE the creamy coconut!
Stay Pure Pod- Fluoride, chlorine and the 9 other harmful chemicals which are present in our water wreck havoc on our endocrine system, specifically our thyroid. Using the STAY PURE POD has helped me improve my water quality on the go. Just toss it in a glass water bottle + you’re clean to go. Bonus it provides trace minerals!
Salt Nightlights- Ahhh the many benefits of salt lamps! I’ll spare you all the woo woo reason you should consider having a salt lamp in every room, but something we can all benefit from is reduced stress and better sleep. For optimal benefits, after dark replace traditional blue light for the red amber light of a salt lamp. I love the night lights because they’re the perfect replacement for toxic candles and you don’t have to worry about starting a fire!
BeeKeepers Naturals- So I’m a pretty recent bee-liever of this product. I gave it a serious go when I was starting to feel signs of a cold coming on. I added the immunity spay into my daily routine and within days my symptoms were GONE! Needless to say BeeKeepers Naturals is my new healthy obsession, I now have a bottle of immunity spray in my car, my book bag and coat pocket. Its a travel essential, bye bye airborne junk!
SUPPLEMENTS ***Disclaimer: be sure to consult with a health care professional before making these part of your healthy routine :0)
Vitamin D3 + K2- I prefer to get my D from natural sources like the sun, but in the colder months getting optimal levels can be difficult, so I supplement. I highly recommend to anyone feeling the effects of SAD (seasonal affective disorder) to help boost their mood. When supplementing with vD its important to include one that contains vK, as they have a synergetic relationship where vK2 helps reduce arterial calcium deposits and directs vD and calcium into the bones.
Magnesium- If you could only take one supplement make it magnesium! Magnesium is a mineral that’s responsible for over 300 biochemical reactions in your body and over 50-90% of us are deficient in it. Relying only on food sources alone is tough because soils are so depleted of nutrients. In addition, stress is another HUGE factor as to why we’re so depleted; when our body is under stress we burn through minerals such as magnesium. There are two forms: Citrate (helps with constipation) and glycinate (helps reduce stress + anxiety), pick your poison!
Athletic Greens- I go in phases using this. I always aim to get the bulk of my nutrition from whole food sources, but i’m a realist and life happens. Having a quality green powder to fall back on when life gets crazy busy has been cluth for my health. This supplement includes 75 vitamin and minerals, which is why I call it a multi vitamin!
Culligan Water Filter- Even if you’re not drinking the water, harmful chemicals like chlorine can still impact our health. In my research, exposure to chlorine in the shower is more dangerous than drinking it as it vaporizes (increasing the chlorine content), by passes the body’s natural filtration system and enters the bloodstream. Shower filters are a life saver, literally! Bonus, they’re cheap, easy to install in most showers and effective! LINK to article.
BOVADO- Plastic containers are made with toxic endocrine disrupting chemicals like BPA and PVC (phthalates) which make them both hard and soft. To lessen my toxic load I’ve made the swap to glass containers. It’s a natural material. It’s impermeable, non-porous, and above all, real (like the food you put into it). I like the BOVADO containers because they use bamboo lids vs plastic.
Green Pan- I know I sound like a broken record with the harmful toxins, but it’s time to kick your non-stick teflon pans to the curb because they’re….you guessed it, toxic! The chemical Perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) are used in non-stick/Teflon pans and leach into our food. Green Pan is a clean choice and affordable.
